Chapter 1 Part 4
“…But why are these clothes like this?”
A closer look in the mirror revealed my white nightgown dress was splattered with blood.
It looked as though someone thought the nightgown too plain and decided to add some ‘flair’ to it.
Just as I was about to slip off the bloody garment, a noise came from beyond the door, and a man entered without knocking.
“It’s time for your cough medicine, Lord Luhel!”
His voice was full of vigor.
Hair a mix of navy and purple, eyes like amethysts cut vertically, sparkling with mischief.
The smile on the man’s face froze as our eyes met.
“Get out, you pervert!”
***
After the commotion.
With the help of the servants who rushed in later, I managed to get ready. Having everything done for me, from bathing to dressing, felt odd but not unpleasant.
It was akin to experiencing a VIP spa treatment by professionals in a luxury hotel.
After getting dolled up, I naturally headed to the audience chamber, accompanied by a man with a blue bruise on his right eye.
His name was Therio. Despite the dog-like name, he was actually a demon bat, one of my closest aides.
Having played the game for a long time, I remembered him as the demon who assisted Luhel, the demon lord.
He wasn’t as strong as the demon lord, but he was far from being a pushover.
It seemed the hit had hurt him, as he covered his right eye with one hand and whined.
“I was treated unfairly…”
“What’s unfair? You were peeking at me changing.”
“You usually can’t get up by yourself before lunch!”
Ah, right? It’s only my first day living as Luhel.
“From now on, I’ll make sure to get up on time, so don’t just barge in.”
“Yes…”
“And stop crying. Are you going to show that side of you to the kids?”
“It’s all your fault anyway…”
Muttering came from behind.
Today, more than ever, they murmured about my unusually cranky demeanor.
“They say that If someone starts doing things they don’t usually do, it means there time has come.”
“Did she eat something wrong?”
They speculated in whispers.
Was their character always this ridiculous?
It felt like [Poopyhead], my close friend with a knack for being annoying, had a similar personality.
I recalled a friend who had a knack for being annoying, but it was a pointless thought. Shaking my head, I put more strength into my steps.
…But what should I do now? Leaving the room was fine, but the system haven’t given me any quests or anything.
The tutorial was really brief, offering no guidance on how to proceed.
“Lord Luhel, perhaps you should eat something first?”
“I’m not hungry.”
Honestly, it’d be more strange if I felt like eating right now.
In this still unfamiliar situation, it would be odd if I could eat comfortably.
“But you must attend the demon conference soon. You’ll need strength, so you should eat…ugh!”
I stopped abruptly, causing Therio, who wasn’t paying attention, to bump into my back.
A demon conference…?
Could it be the one I know about? The meeting where all the demon lords in the universe gather.
“I’m attending the demon conference today?”
“…Yes. You’ve been declining the invitation that’s been coming for a month, but you accepted yesterday. Did you forget?”
He looked at me strangely.
At that moment, the system window reappeared.
[SYSTEM: Main Quest, Attend the demon conference and successfully complete it.]
I was just wondering when I’d get a quest. Perfect timing.
There’s only one way for a user to adapt to a game quickly.
By diligently completing quests and acquiring information through them.
“Therio.”
“Yes, Lord Luhel.”
“Let’s go. To eat.”
“But you just said you had no appetite…”
“It’s back. I can’t think on an empty stomach before work.”
I was already looking forward to it.
To see the faces of those beings who had destroyed the world of BattleFlower and killed Lian.
***
In the BattleFlower universe, there are a total of seven demon lords.
They each received a name associated with one of the seven deadly sins from the primordial gods who created this world, and their nature was uniformly cruel and brutal.
Although they despise humans above all, that doesn’t mean they have any affection for each other.
In their eyes, they are nothing but obstacles and enemies to each other.
If an opportunity arises, they would not hesitate to kill each other to become the sole ruler.
“What should I do about this?”
To save Lian, I have to prevent them from destroying the world.
But it wasn’t easy to act rashly since the demon lords were of similar power levels.
…Assassination or something like that wouldn’t be easy, right?
I shook my head as I pondered how to kill them before even attending the conference.
“This is the priority right now.”
[SYSTEM: Main Quest, Attend the demon conference and successfully complete it.]
I swiped the system window away with a hand gesture and stared at the massive door that seemed like it needed a truck to push open.
Without touching it, the door opened as if it had been waiting for me.
“The Demon Lord of Greed, Luhel, has arrived!”
As I was greeted, the interior of the conference hall was revealed.
Decorated with luxurious items, the spacious hall had a circular table at its center, around which familiar figures were seated.
Am I the last to arrive?
I scanned the room and found my seat.
“It’s been a while, Luhel.”
A woman to my right spoke to me as soon as I sat down.
With her jet-black bob and eyes deep enough to drown in, and black wings fluttering at her back, she was Pamiel, the Demon Lord of Gluttony.
She was a fallen angel, wasn’t she?
“Have you been busy?”
“Busy.”
“Too busy to even see me?”
“I didn’t come here to engage in pointless chatter, so please stop bothering me.”
