- Chapter 24: I don’t know love part 1
Even though Lucius thought that, he couldn’t reveal his true identity inside the Magic Tower. It wasn’t so much that he couldn’t, but more that his strange relationship with Fay complicated things.
At the moment he was feeling extremely displeased, something happened that completely overturned his muddled emotions.
“Thank you so much!”
“Hey…!”
Fay dropped the scroll, then leapt into Lucius’s arms, bouncing up and down.
‘What is this.’
As she ran toward him and suddenly hugged him, Lucius’s face stiffened with an unfamiliar emotion.
However, he couldn’t shake off Fay, who had jumped into his arms. He neither fully embraced her nor pushed her away—he was just frozen in place. Lucius’s arms awkwardly hung in the air.
The brief contact with another human felt infinitely long to him. She’s warm, small, and cozy. And so full of life.
Too excited from receiving the scroll, Fay finally noticed Lucius’s stiff reaction and realized her mistake.
“Oh…! Sorry.”
Whoosh.
When her small, warm body quickly pulled away, Lucius felt an unexpected sense of disappointment.
This strange feeling was something he hadn’t even experienced when ancient human women, who had never seen his true form, worshiped him as their groom. It felt like a soft pink cloud was blooming from his pounding heart.
You said you wanted a Dragon Heart, right?
Even though Lucius had just thought of the most dangerous idea in the world, he couldn’t move.
“…No, it’s fine.”
After a long pause, he responded as if nothing had happened.
Momo, who had been resting in her basket instead of taking a nap, was quietly watching the awkward scene unfold.
Fay, clutching the gift scroll tightly, suddenly ran off, announcing she’d practice with some cheap scrolls.
She must have thanked him at least ten times, but all of those memories felt like a dream to Lucius. He didn’t bother to follow her. In fact, he felt like he couldn’t stand being alone with Fay right now. He needed some time to cool his head.
D**n, this feeling like I’m floating on a cloud—it’s ridiculous.
“Hmph.”
Maybe he should try reading one of the books he had brought from the library. That might help.
Noticing the mood, the drakan prepared to provoke him.
“Squeak, squeak~~”
“…?”
Lucius’s black eyes quickly turned as he realized Momo’s usual high-pitched crying sounded unusually strange. However, Momo, despite knowing her master’s frightening gaze was on him, didn’t stop.
The crafty drakan was fully excited. Finally, he had found his master’s ultimate weakness. He had to make use of it before the moment passed. Even if death was approaching, he would commit to this. Only this could be the revenge that would heal his wounded, bleeding soul!
“Squeak~ squeak~~!”
“Can’t you stop!”
Whack!
Lucius quickly threw the soft cushion behind him, but Momo had already ducked her head under the basket’s cloth.
D**n it!
However, instead of chasing after Momo like a madman, Lucius casually placed his feet on the table and buried his head in a magic book. Swearing that it wasn’t because reading was more important than dealing with drakan’s dominance challenge.
The rhythm Momo had just been gleefully singing along to… was none other than the timeless sound of the wedding march.
‘That d**n lizard! How dare he… mock me like this!’
Even though the thought that came to mind wasn’t, ‘How dare you pair me with that lowly human witch,’ but rather, ‘How dare you mock me!’ Lucius hadn’t yet realized the shift in his focus.
Lucius found himself unable to tolerate anyone speaking carelessly about Fay anymore. His silvery hair glimmered as he stood atop the bookshelf, contemplating his tangled emotions. He needed more time to fully understand what was happening inside him.

On the day of the Harvest Festival.
It was a closely guarded secret that Sillas had hired a certain magician from the Magic Tower. Thus, Kassel, the Young Lord of House Klein, knew nothing about what was going to happen during the festival.
He was simply happy that the Crown Prince would be attending the festival this year, along with a few noble ladies and young noblewomen.
Contrary to Kassel’s enthusiasm, Duchess Klein sighed deeply.
“Oh dear, you look even thinner than before. I’m glad I get to see you every day, but it’s only early mornings and late nights, and that’s not enough.”
“My weight hasn’t changed, Mother.”
“I don’t understand why you, of all people, are given so much work when there are plenty of others who could do it.”
“Being able to serve the Empire and the Imperial Family is my greatest joy.”
Kassel spoke truthfully, though it didn’t seem to satisfy the Duchess.
“Enough. This time, I will personally bring it up when we see the Crown Prince. I’ll tell him I won’t allow you to step one foot outside the capital from now on. His Excellency always just nods and agrees with everything the Crown Prince says.”
“Mother.”
“Don’t try to stop me. Dorothea? If you’re all ready, don’t sit down before we leave, or you’ll wrinkle your dress.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
The Emperor would start the festival, but the ritual offering to the gods and the mock battle afterward would be led by the Crown Prince.
Kassel had learned this news not from Sillas, but from another source. He didn’t feel hurt that Sillas hadn’t told him in advance. The Crown Prince’s position was naturally one where absolute trust could never be given to anyone.
What bothered him more was Dorothea, who was attending the festival as Tiana’s stand-in despite not even being at the estate.

Oh… interesting. Is Lucius actually the ML? I was thinking he’d be another big brother type figure or something lol.
