Chapter 1
Chapter 1. Realizing
Could it be that I have some kind of mental illness?
With a troubled expression, Jiwoo seriously began to worry about her own sanity.
[System] Individuals within 3 meters of the PLAYER are feeling attracted to them.
[System] Café owner Joo Mina feels an attraction toward the PLAYER.
[System] The PLAYER’s mood has slightly decreased.
[System] Due to the blessing of the ‘Creator’, the PLAYER’s charm remains at its maximum.
Given that these noisy messages kept popping up since the morning, her concern didn’t seem entirely unfounded.
What on earth is this?
From the content, it seemed just like one of those dating sims that only hardcore otakus played…
Of course, Jiwoo herself was one of those otakus, so she knew all too well.
Just how random those messages were.
“Hmmmmm…”
Staring into empty space, Jiwoo let out a low hum.
Not long ago, a health check had confirmed that she was perfectly fine, with no signs of illness anywhere…
Had a tumor developed in her brain in the meantime? Was she hallucinating because of a burst blood vessel?
Had she suddenly become terminally ill? And so on, and so on, horrifying thoughts spiraled through her mind one after another in a chaotic stream.
At this point, it would make sense to go to a hospital. But instead, Jiwoo stubbornly made her way to school.
Even if she really was terminally ill and her brain was going to explode tomorrow, Jiwoo still wanted to go on this date today.
The first Monday of September, their anniversary, their first dinner together, the package from Banana Mall waiting for her!
The more she thought about it, the more excited she got. Jiwoo exhaled in short, exhilarated bursts.
– Next stop is Seonun University Entrance. Seonun University Entrance. The doors will open on the…
Just then, the bus arrived near the campus.
As the rear door of the stopped bus opened, Jiwoo was the first to hop off, moving quickly and differently from everyone else as she dashed toward the liberal arts building.
If she arrived even one minute earlier and grabbed a seat in time, she’d be able to claim the perfect spot to secretly watch Sunyul throughout class.
[System] PLAYER smiles at psychology department TA Joo Seoa.
[System] Goddess of the Japanese Literature Department, Kang Aeji, feels attracted to the PLAYER.
[System] Seo Jian, a freshman in the Fashion Department, feels attracted to the PLAYER.
[System] Psychology department TA Joo Seoa has fallen in love with the PLAYER at first sight.
In this crucial moment where every second counted, the system messages continued to interrupt Jiwoo’s focus.
Reading them irritably, Jiwoo’s expression subtly hardened.
“Goddess of the Japanese Lit department, Kang Aeji…? Psychology TA Joo Seoa…?”
She had no idea who the freshman from the fashion department was, but the other two names, despite their embarrassing descriptors, were very familiar. Both were students at Seonun University, just like Jiwoo.
“……?”
At the sudden appearance of real, existing people, Jiwoo tilted her head in confusion.
She had more or less assumed it was just some kind of mental illness, but what had just happened significantly lowered that possibility.
No matter how insane she might be, she wouldn’t go around calling random people she wasn’t even interested in a goddess.
If it’s not some mental illness, then what is this? Is this actually happening right now?
Was it that thing they talk about on the news? Something about invasions from outer space. Was that happening to her?
She was trying to put her deductive reasoning to work, when her wristwatch beeped with a loud beep-beep.
Ten minutes before her liberal arts class. It was right around the time the previous class would’ve ended and the lecture room would be empty.
“A seat!”
Just that one thing was enough to wipe the whole system message issue from Jiwoo’s mind.
What mattered now wasn’t those useless messages. It was getting a seat where she could spend a full hour staring at Sunyul to her heart’s content.
Running later than usual, Jiwoo sprinted across campus without stopping.
Who the hell decided to build the liberal arts building on a staircase? Who in the world even likes stairs and uphill roads…
Panting as she climbed the steep slope, Jiwoo cursed the architect of the liberal arts building for having zero consideration for late students.
Her lungs felt like they were about to explode, but she couldn’t stop. Determined to push herself beyond her limits, she powered through and arrived at the classroom two minutes later than usual.
Bang!
Throwing the door open, the first thing she did was check whether the spot she had her eye on was still free.
“Thank god…!”
Luckily, the lecture room was still nearly empty.
Brightening up, Jiwoo bounced like an excited gazelle and claimed the seat with a skip.
It was only then that she realized she hadn’t brought her textbook but it didn’t matter.
All she needed was her love for Sunyul.
Humming a carefree tune, Jiwoo turned to face the door.
So she wouldn’t miss the moment Sunyul entered the room.
[System] PLAYER has exchanged numbers with Chae-eun, English Major, Class of ‘20.
[System] PLAYER winks at heavy drinker Han Chaerin from the psychology department.
[System] Han Chaerin’s affection for PLAYER has increased by +3.
[System] English Major Chae-eun (Class of ‘20) thinks PLAYER’s wink is cute.
But that clueless PLAYER just wouldn’t quit.
She still didn’t know who he was, but judging by what she’d seen so far, he was the type who left a trail of charm wherever he went. Definitely not your average flirt.
At this rate, he looked ready to seduce every woman in the world.
Gross…
