Chapter 48
Chapter 48
Then he turned his body like Idina. As he uncrossed his arms and leaned toward Idina, he looked her up and down.
“Nothing happened?”
When he tried to talk about his father, he was on guard. However, when she changed the subject, it was definitely different. His voice was full of worry.
Feeling a subtle tickle at his attitude, Idina smiled and nodded.
“Nothing happened. My brother is angry and said he’ll detain him, but… The real important thing is that Lilles didn’t just come to see me.”
Killian paused for a moment, as if he was taking in Idina’s words. Then he brilliantly saw through her intentions.
“It seems like you have a lot to say.”
“Yes, I’ve heard many stories about Your Highness.”
“…….”
“I have many questions. May I ask you about them?”
Killian raised his eyebrows at Idina’s cautious question.
He seemed to be curious about how much Idina knew to say such things, but he didn’t want to tell her first.
Fortunately, Killian nodded slowly.
“Yes.”
While walking from the palace to the crown prince’s palace, Idina slowly brought out the stories she had organized in her mind one by one.
“First of all, Lilles said something strange to me. He said Your Highness encourage him to break off our engagement. I want to hear… Your Highness’s words about this. Is Lilles talking nonsense, or…….”
And then came the first question. Before Idina could finish her sentence, Killian quickly answered.
“That’s not nonsense.”
Idina’s eyes widened at the pure recognition. Killian slightly raised the corners of his eyes as he looked at her.
He seemed to be enjoying seeing her shocked face a little.
“And most of Lilles’ guesses are probably right.”
“Lilles’ guesses?”
“Yes, he’s an ‘alpha’ like me. I think he must have some instinctive feelings.”
“…..I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Idina tried to interpret his ambiguous words, but it wasn’t easy. Killian tilted his head as if he was wondering where to start.
However, he didn’t take his eyes off Idina’s face even then. His eyes staring blankly seemed a little strange, and he slowly opened his mouth.
“I didn’t want you to marry that piece of trash.”
“Why?”
“Why…”
He stroked his smooth, beardless chin with his hand. It took quite a while for him to unravel this tangled story.
“First of all, he definitely won’t make you happy. To put it nicely, he’s a player and a sl*t.”
“…….”
Idina listened to his story carefully, but her doubts remained.
He was talking about Idina’s happiness, but why was it important to him? They had only seen each other a few times.
However, Killian didn’t readily give Idina an answer. It seemed like it was an area that she shouldn’t touch yet.
“If I said I didn’t want to send you to that guy, would you believe me?”
Just as there were areas he still kept hidden from her, Idina couldn’t answer that question right away either. She asked back quietly.
“Your Highness… Do you like me?”
Killian took a deep breath at that.
Instead of giving an answer right away, he glanced at the table in front of them and shrugged.
“It doesn’t seem like the right place to recite words of confession.”
Then, Killian grabbed Idina’s wrist and lifted her up. He was going to move.

The servants seemed a little flustered as he left the food behind, but Killian didn’t care.
He took Idina to a cozy room on one side of the palace. He opened the door and spoke.
“This room is where my mother used to read to me when she was alive.”
Compared to his office that she had seen before, it was a very small room. However, the cozy atmosphere was incomparable to that.
The room was decorated in calm brown tones, had a narrow bed in the middle, and bookshelves filled the room. As soon as she entered, she saw a bookshelf. It was a place filled with books, so much so that the smell was overwhelming.
Killian went in, closed the door, and turned on the lamp on the nightstand. He gladly walked to the bed as if reminiscing about his childhood.
He sat down there and gently lifted the blanket.
“Whenever my mother had free time, she would lie here with me and read books. When I was very young, she mainly read fairy tales. When I was a little older, she read books like philosophy books…….”
Killian trailed off, as if his throat was choked with longing for her. Idina carefully approached him and said.
“I guess you were on good terms with Her Majesty the Empress.”
“I was an ordinary son who loved my mother.”
“…….”
“I was happy and full of love when I was with my mother. And she was always perfect, even when she wasn’t here. A loving couple who respected and loved each other. A mother who was respected by all the people of the empire.”
Listening to him, Idina felt her mouth dry. After hearing the Emperor’s words, she felt quite uncomfortable with Killian’s words.
“That’s why I thought she was perfect.”
“Perfect, yes.”
“Yes, I thought she would be happier than anyone else.”
With that, Killian closed his mouth for a moment as if choosing his words and closed his eyes. Although it didn’t seem very pleasant to bring up memories from the past, he restrained his emotions as much as possible and brought up the memories in refined language.
“My mother was an omega… Idina, just like you.”
Just like you.
