Chapter 47
Chapter 47
“I knew it was ridiculous. But I was getting tired of the Crown Prince’s stubbornness. I didn’t know when he would marry, and I wasn’t sure if I could pass on the throne if things continued like this.”
If he didn’t get married, it was natural that he wouldn’t have an heir. Having no heir meant the end of the imperial family, so the Emperor couldn’t just leave it alone forever.
In the meantime, Killian said he would personally select the Crown Princess. So even though he had proposed a strange method, Idina could easily guess that it would have been welcome from his perspective.
“I still don’t know if the Crown Prince has come to his senses. But at least, since he chose you… so I won’t reject you.”
“I’ve only experienced it for two days, but Your Majesty… has been very kind to me.”
“Then that’s fortunate.”
The Emperor let out a deep sigh at Idina’s answer, as if his worries were relieved. Then he gave Idina one last request.
“I know that the current situation must be very sudden for you, but can I say that I ask you to take good care of the Crown Prince?”
The Killian that he knew was not someone he should worry about that much.
However, the Emperor spoke anxiously, as if he had let a child out into the water.
It seemed that his understanding of his son was a little lacking, but Idina nodded quietly.
She wanted to end the current conversation quickly and go find Killian.
She had a lot to ask him; the answer to what Lilles had said yesterday and the exact reason for his seclusion.
After digging into it, it seemed like she would be able to be sure of what kind of thoughts Killian had for her.
***
It was early morning when she arrived at the palace, but the sun was in the middle of the sky when she came out of the reception room. It meant that lunchtime had come.
The emperor did not tell Idina to eat at the palace, but instead told his servant to inform the Crown Prince’s Palace of her visit.
Thanks to this, the door opened wide as soon as she arrived at the Crown Prince’s Palace. Since it was the right time, Killian greeted her in the dining room instead of the office like yesterday.
As soon as she entered, the smell of delicious bread and mouth-watering delicious smells stimulated Idina’s nose.
Killian had been waiting for her after hearing the servant sent from the palace. Hence, he waited for her without even lifting a fork in front of the numerous foods.
“Idina.”
His gorgeous face brightened as soon as he found her. Idina smiled as she faced him, and he walked to the entrance. Taking her hand, he escorted her.
However, in normal circumstances, he would have had the guest sit across from him, but he led Idina to the seat right next to him.
He himself pulled out a chair and gestured.
“Please sit here, Lady.”
“Would you mind?”
“Of course.”
Idina sat down next to him at his readily given answer. Then the servants busily came and set the dishes in front of her.
Killian took her plate instead of his and cut the food on the plate into small pieces. When Idina looked flustered, he stopped cutting and put a nearby bowl of soup in her hand.
“Drink it while it’s warm.”
He added.
“You have to eat well in advance to raise the b*by in your womb well.”
“….Ah.”
Idina blushed slightly in embarrassment at the mention of the b*by. Killian looked at her with a pleased expression and began to speak earnestly.
“I heard you had a private meeting with His Majesty the Emperor. Was it okay?”
Idina’s eyes widened because she hadn’t expected him to already know. She thought she should be the one to bring up the subject since he probably didn’t know, but it seemed like news traveled faster to him than she had expected.
Idina nodded a beat later.
“His Majesty seemed like a nice person.”
“Really?”
Killian responded calmly. It was a response without any judgment, but Idina could sense that he didn’t like her answer that much.
Even when talking to the Emperor, she had a feeling that their relationship was quite awkward. It seemed that her guess was correct.
However, Idina acted obliviously.
“His Majesty seems to be very worried about you.”
“…….”
“His Majesty wanted me to help you get out.”
“It seemed like the private time was short… You two must have said a lot in the meantime, didn’t you?”
“There wasn’t anything you didn’t like.”
Idina said that and checked his expression. However, she slurped down the soup without being too obvious and put the bowl down.
Before starting the conversation in earnest, she looked around at the people around her. Killian followed her gaze and quickly gave orders to the people around him.
“It seems like everything is ready, so everyone should leave.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
It wasn’t the first or second time he had told everyone to leave, so they obediently left without any objection. Only after the door closed did Killian put down his dishes and fold his arms.
“Judging from the way you look at them, I think you have something to say.”
It was just as he had guessed.
However, sensing his somewhat defensive attitude from the way his arms were folded, Idina turned halfway to face him.
“First of all… I don’t know if you heard, but yesterday, Lilles came to see me.”
A crack appeared between Killian’s eyebrows when Lilles’ story came up.
“That bastard, as expected.”
