Chapter 5
“No, no! I just don’t know how to convey this to the head of the Hirupus family.”
“That’s none of your concern. Are you displeased that I’m using teleportation for personal reasons?”
“Of course not!”
Seeing the knight’s face half in tears, Heinrich patted his shoulder. It was a pressure to hurry things along. The knight’s face turned even paler at his actions.
It was a problem if Heinrich’s words weren’t heeded here, but listening could lead to even bigger problems later.
Noticing this, Heinrich added with a tone of generosity.
“If it bothers you that much, just tell my parents that if teleportation fees are the issue, I’ll gladly pay. And if they plan on using their son’s money to teleport because they’re broke, be sure to pass along that they’ll need to work harder from now on.”
The knight’s expression changed moment by moment.
No one would dare to say such a thing to the head of the Hirupus family. Knowing that, Heinrich smiled as if he had given a brilliant suggestion, and the knight awkwardly laughed along.
The knight’s dilemma didn’t last long. If he opened the teleporter, at least he wouldn’t have to worry about Heinrich biting his neck here.
Reluctantly, he guided him.
“You can go this way.”
“Okay, thanks for your help.”
As the teleport’s light flickered, Heinrich’s figure disappeared.
—
With a flash of light, Heinrich arrived through the teleport.
They had expected the head of the family, the madam, the young master, and the knights to be back, but he found himself standing alone.
The Hirupus servants who rushed over froze at the sight of him.
“Young master?”
“Oh, James?”
“Yes…? Where are the head of the family and the madam…?”
“They’ll come on their own.”
Heinrich paused, surprised that so many people had gathered. But that was only for a moment; he casually asked with a calm face.
In the confusing situation, the butler James struggled to keep his mouth shut.
“Where is Leo?”
“Are you hurt somewhere?”
Heinrich had never looked for Leo, the family doctor of Hirupus, before. But now he was asking for him right after returning. James looked around, trying to assess Heinrich’s condition.
Before long, James realized why Heinrich was looking for Leo.
“Is it because of the rabbit in your hand?”
“Yeah, I think it might die if I leave it alone.”
The sudden situation made the servants murmur as they watched Heinrich.
James tried to control the confused situation. The Hirupus servants glanced back but soon lost interest and disappeared.
Once everyone was gone and it was quiet, James finally asked Heinrich. He spoke in a low, secretive tone, as if he was sure he had done something wrong.
“Did you kidnap it?”
“Why is everyone acting like this towards me? There’s no way I would do something so shameless, right?”
Heinrich’s playful demeanor made James awkwardly smile. However, being competent, he quickly wiped the expression off his face and nodded.
“Yes, will you go find him right away?”
“No. Tell him to come up to my room.”
As he watched Heinrich walking while only looking at his palm, James briefly thought about whether he might trip.
He shook his head, trying to clear his mind. Of all people, why would he worry about him falling?
—
“The young master is looking for you. Hurry and go up to his room.”
“…What did you say?”
Leo’s eyes narrowed.
‘How old is this guy this year?’
Then, as if he had come to a conclusion, he asked him.
“…Have you lost your mind?”
Seeing Leo’s crumpled expression, James shook his head. He stood up abruptly and moved towards Heinrich’s room while continuing to doubt.
‘They said they wouldn’t do a dementia test this year, but they definitely should.’
It was natural for Leo to react this way. It was none other than Heinrich himself calling him. It would be more believable if a horse in the stable called him.
Even as he opened Heinrich’s door with a twisted expression, he was still thinking about how to prepare for James’s dementia test.
“Young master.”
“Oh, you came.”
Of course, there was nothing in his room. It was a moment that brought James’s dementia test even closer.
“Seriously, calling a busy person back and forth…”
As he brushed his hair back and stepped closer to Heinrich, Leo noticed a small cotton ball on the bed. It looked like it was in poor condition at first glance.
Only then did Leo realize why Heinrich had called him.
“Where did you pick up such a dirty thing?”
“From Repus.”
If Heinrich had returned to the family, the overly dramatic knights should have been looking for him. But it was still so quiet. Feeling something was off, Leo asked.
“By the way, where are the madam and the head of the family?”
“I came alone. More importantly, why is this one like this? Is a rabbit usually this hot?”
Finding the reason in Heinrich’s answer, Leo rubbed his forehead.
Even though the young master had almost zero consideration for others, he really seemed to have no thoughts at all.
And now, he was only focused on the rabbit he picked up. Leo couldn’t help but let out a hollow laugh.
“Do you know what kind of trouble you’re causing right now?”
Not only did he kidnap a rabbit from the Repus family, but he also used the teleport alone to return.
No matter how great the Hirupus family was, teleportation costs a significant amount of money and effort. Eventually, Leo couldn’t hold back and muttered while glaring at Heinrich.
“…Has our young master completely lost his mind?”
“What did you say?”
However, Heinrich seemed not to hear Leo’s words as he was completely absorbed in the rabbit.
The situation had already occurred, and arguing about it wouldn’t change anything, so Leo asked to show him the rabbit he had brought.
Then Heinrich frowned and said something absurd.
“Just leave it here and treat it. Don’t touch it.”
“…Are you really out of your mind?”
“Aren’t you capable? Can’t you do even that?”
It was useless to scratch his pride.
It was like asking a doctor to treat a patient blindfolded and with hands tied. Leo chuckled dryly and shrugged.
“Then maybe I won’t treat it at all.”
“Do you want to die?”
“Come on, a smart guy like you should know…if you kill me, there’s no other beastkin in Hirupus who can save that rabbit.”
Leo answered smoothly, even with Heinrich looking ready to rip his throat out. That finally snapped Heinrich back to reality, and he tilted his head begrudgingly.
With his permission, Leo began examining the rabbit, barely palm-sized, turning it over gently.
Seeing Leo, famed as the greatest healer on land, doing absolutely nothing made Heinrich irritated.
“What are you doing, not using your fancy healing magic? The kid’s sick. Use it.”
“You think that stuff works like magic tricks?”
“You said you were so great. If you can’t heal it, just go out and bring back someone better than… “
“Squeak…”
A loud sound made the little rabbit whimper. At that, Heinrich shot Leo a glare and immediately tried to comfort it.
“Ah, was that loud? I’ll be quiet, you’re okay.”
Witnessing that, Leo’s face twisted in horror.
He looked at Heinrich as if he were seeing something monstrous.
“…Disgusting.”
“…Shut up.”
“Did I say that out loud?”
Leo muttered like he’d just seen something he could never unsee.
But Heinrich didn’t hear him. His attention was completely on the tiny rabbit.
After fiddling with the rabbit for a while, Leo held back a sigh. He had thought Heinrich just wanted a pet and had set the rabbit on the bed, but it wasn’t just any rabbit. It was a beastkin.
‘What the hell did they feed this kid?’
On top of that, a drug Leo had never seen before was suppressing the transformation inside its tiny body.
Seeing Leo quietly fuming, Heinrich sensed something was wrong and asked,
“What? Is it really bad?”
“No. Now that I know the reason, I can finally use healing magic.”
Leo wrapped the tiny rabbit in blankets in case it transformed, then poured healing magic into it.
