The situation escalated quickly.
My head felt so heavy I could barely move it, but it sounded like someone had smashed through a window and burst in with a ruckus.
Because the two men who had been arguing loudly over me screamed like they were being torn apart.
“Al-already? H-how did you find us?!”
“Aaaaargh!”
Things only got worse from there.
>“Did you think you could run far?”
A group burst in like some kind of elite task force and tried to take the men down. They managed to catch one.
But the other man lunged at me in a desperate bid to survive— and snatched me up in his arms.
“Don’t move!”
I looked down at myself, dangling lightly in his grasp, with a solemn expression.
“If you don’t want to see something terrible happen, I said don’t move!”
The man barked furiously from behind, making me frown in irritation.
‘Someone please explain to me—what in the hell is going on?’
I didn’t have time to figure anything out.
“I said don’t move!”
“Aghhh!”
> “Don’t be foolish. You’re already dead.”
“Y-you think I’ll die alone?!”
Ah, this lunatic.
The man shook me roughly, making my skull ring and a surge of anger bubble up.
Just as I was about to curse loudly, something fell from my mouth with a wet plop.
A soggy, round object glistening with spit.
Wait a second…
‘Is that… a pacifier? Like, for babies? Why did that just fall out of my mouth?!’
My eyes went wild, darting around. And then I saw the kidnappers screaming and being subdued by men who looked like they’d just walked off the set of a fantasy film.
They were talking.
> “Remember, the one you dared lay hands on belongs to House Hillington.”
“D-damn it! If I’m going to die anyway, I’ll take her with me!”
>“You won’t die alone. Your entire family will perish with you.”
“C-cowards!”
“Who’s the coward—the one threatening a baby, or those of us trying to rescue her?”
No doubt about it—these were foreigners.
And, wow, they were good-looking.
Their hair was so flamboyantly styled I almost wanted to ask, ‘What salon did you go to?’
> “If you don’t want things to get worse, hand over the young lady.”
But what stood out most was their ridiculous uniforms—something no sane person would wear.
Not just any fancy suit, but something decked out in shiny, elaborate decorations.
‘Just like the armor fantasy knights wear in games!’
And all their gazes—filled with concern—were locked right on me.
> “If the young lady gets so much as a scratch, you’ll die with your limbs torn off.”
Wow. That was like something straight out of an action movie.
Their expressions were so cold and murderous, if I were the kidnapper, I probably would’ve peed myself.
But, excuse me, why am I in the middle of this?!
“Y-you’re all jokes. Do you even know whose hands she’s in right now?”
>“How dare you!”
A chill ran down my spine.
The man suddenly grabbed my throat.
‘It hurts!’
And as the others called out to me in panic—“Young Lady!”—I realized something I really didn’t want to:
The baby they were all talking about… was me.
And I was being held like a sack of potatoes.
No way.
‘Did I… just become a baby?!’
My heart pounded, cold sweat trickling down my back.
Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse—
The man holding me suddenly screamed,
> “Ugh!”
—then threw me.
Like, literally tossed me into the air.
‘You psycho!!’
‘Aaaah!’
In that floating moment, I flailed my tiny arms and squeezed my eyes shut.
I didn’t know what was happening, but if I really had become a baby, I was about to die again! My poor little head!
And then—
“Hah. Just in time.”
>“Your Grace!”
With a solid thud, I was caught in a pair of strong arms.
Feeling the secure embrace, I cautiously opened my eyes.
‘Wow.’
A man was holding me.
Late twenties, maybe?
My first impression: gorgeous.
We briefly made eye contact.
His face was cold and expressionless, like carved ice—but for some reason, I found myself smiling up at this stranger. He quickly looked away. Ouch. Cold much?
“Are those two the only culprits?”
>“Yes, Your Grace. What shall we do with them?”
“No need for interrogation.”
I followed his gaze to see the kidnapper, who had been thrown to the ground and was now pinned by the knights.
His face was red, and he was screaming like it was he who’d been wronged.
“No matter the reason—”
I couldn’t breathe!
Though the embrace was secure, his chest was so firm it smushed my face.
He pulled me tightly into his arms as if shielding me from the kidnapper’s words.
“—I have no intention of forgiving them. Anyone who lays a hand on my daughter has no right to live.”
His voice was deep, almost vibrating in my ears.
And strangely… I laughed.
This feeling of safety in someone else’s arms…
‘Ah. I get it now. This must be a dream.’
That’s the only thing that makes sense.
A full-grown adult suddenly becoming a baby? And someone caring about me like this? Definitely a dream.
As I gave a dry laugh, the gorgeous man who held me even tighter began to speak again.
He totally looked like the male lead in a drama.
If this were a drama, he’d say something like, “Since the child’s safe, I’ll show mercy.”
“Kill them.”
…Huh?
I blinked.
> “Understood, Your Grace.”
If not for what happened next, I would’ve kept thinking this was just a weird dream.
But then—
> “Aaaaaargh!”
A piercing scream.
‘They… they actually killed him?’
A chill ran down my spine.
Who are these people?
‘I… I need to get out of here.’
My heart pounded like crazy, but this baby body of mine couldn’t handle stress very well.
My eyelids drooped.
No! I can’t fall asleep now!
I need to find out if this is a dream or reality—
“Clean this up and withdraw.”
>“Yes, Your Grace!”
But that was it.
As his cold voice rang in my ears, I fell completely into sleep.
‘Damn it… I can’t… think…’
I think I heard someone snoring nearby.
Anyway, the sleep? Incredibly restful.
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.
I realized the world I’d been reincarnated into—or perhaps possessed—was the novel ‘The Young Lady Is Sweet’… the morning after I passed out in some man’s arms during the kidnapping.
“Ughhh…”
Birds were chirping loudly outside. I cracked my eyes open.
My whole body felt stiff, and before I could even remember what had happened—
I saw something.
‘Ack!’
I almost screamed.
There were people—
Women dressed like they’d stepped out of a medieval movie, in full-blown maid uniforms. Stunningly beautiful women.
‘Wh-who are you?!’
I’d never seen any of them before.
‘What the hell is going on?’
Opening your eyes and discovering you’re a baby—this was some straight-up novel stuff.
But I was way too much of a realist to adjust to something like this instantly.
My heart pounded so hard I thought it would burst out of my chest.
I gulped and tried to recall what happened.
I was kidnapped. Rescued by people who looked like knights from a noble family.
‘Those uniforms… they were way too flashy to be normal.’
Just like the ones worn by the knights from the heroine’s family in The Young Lady Is Sweet.
Which would make me… the noble daughter?
‘No. In this kind of situation, observe first. Stay quiet.’
With a dramatic snooore, I slowly closed my eyes again.
One of the maids moved, probably the one who’d locked eyes with me.
“Did she fall asleep again?”
I peeked through one eye and saw her waving a finger in front of me.
I squeezed my eyes shut.
‘Checking if I’m asleep, huh?’
Yup.
>“Looks like she’s really out. She’s not even hungry?”
They sighed in relief and brought chairs over, sitting by my bed and starting to chat.
“Well, at least she’s calm. Less work for us.”
“You call it lucky after all that bloodshed? Really?”
“They were scum anyway. And thanks to that, the young lady was brought back from the temple.”
“And now we’re stuck babysitting her.”
“Watch your mouth.”
Nice.
I smirked internally.
‘I might actually get some answers.’
I wiggled slightly, turning to one side to fake being asleep.
That way, all they’d see was my butt.
Come on, ladies.
Pretend I’m clueless. Tell me—who am I? Where is this?
There were three of them. All absurdly beautiful, expressionless women.
Probably the black-haired one closest to me muttered:
“Don’t you know this place is on thin ice right now? What kind of noble family is this chaotic? First the kidnapping…”
“Ugh, I kind of regret taking the job. But the money’s too good.”
Rich family. Noble daughter.
Could it be that I, the baby, am the main character of this whole thing?
Then maybe… my new parents are the kind who dote on their child.
They assigned three people to care for me, sent an army of knights when I was kidnapped, and that stone-faced guy with the warm chest…
“Those bastards were insane. Who dares touch House Hillington?”
Just like that—my little fantasy of hope ground to a halt.
Hillington.
Hillington?!
Wait… wasn’t that the name the kidnappers shouted too?
‘No way. That’s the exact same name as the heroine’s family in the novel!’
