Chapter 1
“Isn’t my favorite character so pitiful? He gave his everything, yet just because he’s the second lead, he can never be with the main character…”
“Meow?”
“Yeah, yeah… Why am I even talking to you about this…”
She squeezed out some Churu for the calico cat in front of her, who was licking its mouth while looking up at her as if responding to her words.
It was a stray cat she had been caring for lately because she kept noticing it everywhere.
“I can’t take you in since I’m not allowed to have pets at home… I’m sorry…”
As if understanding her words, the cat twitched its ears. She gently stroked it a couple more times before squeezing out the rest of the treat.
“I really wish I could meet my favorite character just once. I know I’d be able to love him properly.”
The cat quickly licked the treat clean and stared at her.
“Well, I’d better get going. I had fun today, too.”
Gathering up her trash, she stood up, patted down her clothes, and waved her hand as she turned around to leave.
And at that moment—
[Is that your wish, meow?]
A voice suddenly echoed, startling her. She turned her head around, but aside from herself, there wasn’t a soul in sight.
[Down here, meow.]
A voice spoke again, and she felt something bump against her leg. Looking down, the cat was rubbing its head against her.
“Have I read too many web novels…? Am I going crazy…?”
[You’re not crazy! It’s me, talking to you, meow!]
“Gah!”
The cat leaped onto her suddenly, and she was so shocked that she fell backward.
Before she could gather her wits, the cat gracefully landed on top of her.
“Ack.”
The cat was small and scrawny, yet its weight felt oddly heavy.
Before she could say anything, the cat spoke first.
[This is a reward given only to kind humans who feed me delicious food. Now, quickly tell me! Was that your wish, meow?]
“What wish?”
[That thing you were mumbling about earlier—about your favorite character.]
“Oh, that… If it were me, This is probably how it would have gone. Something like…!”
[Alright, I’ll grant it, meow!]
Before she could say anything else, her vision went completely white, flickering with blinding light.
That was the last thing she remembered of her life in Korea.
***
“That was real…?”
And now, in the present. Eunyeong stared at her own reflection in the mirror, squishing her face this way and that with a look of utter disbelief.
In the mirror stood a woman with snow-white hair and pale pink eyes, so doll-like and pretty it was almost unreal.
It had to be real, given how her face distorted at her own touch.
“Miss Anteia, are you awake?”
“Anteia…?”
To sum it up, she had transmigrated.
Into the very novel that contained her most beloved character—one she adored so much it could only be called love.
At first, she thought it was just a dream, but it was reality.
And the biggest problem was this window right before her eyes.
——————-
[Make a wish system, meow!]
Until your wish is granted
You can’t go home, meow~
Do your best~!
——————-
She fixed her gaze on the exclamation mark in that last line and waved her hand in the air.
Then the window blurred and vanished.
Anteia sighed softly, her legs quivering faintly.
It had already been two weeks since she began living as Anteia.
“Miss! Your legs!”
“Yes, Merilyn!”
Whenever she heard those words, she immediately put her legs together and straightened her back, striking the textbook pose of a perfect lady.
“You really shouldn’t do that, you know?”
“Alright, alright, I get it.”
But if she didn’t do this, her nerves would be so frayed she’d practically go insane—what else could she do?
After all, Anteia was about to come face-to-face with her ultimate favorite character.
With only one minute left until the moment of their meeting, she was trembling like crazy.
“Merilyn, the bouquet?”
“It’s ready.”
“The ring.”
“That’s ready too.”
“And the proposal letter?”
“It’s carefully placed on the table right in front of you, Miss.”
“It’s perfect, right?”
“Of course. You’ve already asked me that 199 times, so there’s no way it could be anything but perfect.”
“Have I really asked that many times already?”
“Yes.”
Feeling a bit sheepish at Merilyn’s remark, Anteia placed her hands on her knees.
She had decided to enjoy this world to the fullest. Here she had a wealthy family and a beautiful appearance; even her beloved favorite character was living in this very world.
And what’s more? She even had the privilege of proposing to her favorite.
Where else could she possibly find a world as wonderful as this?
Of course, the slight catch was that it had been ten years since the original story ended, which meant the main characters had aged accordingly.
Anteia’s age matched her own—22 years old—but her favorite character was now 32.
Still, that didn’t matter.
Sure, from the perspective of modern ethics, it might seem a bit problematic, but in this world, the age gap wasn’t much of a concern.
Besides, Viscount Blair, her father, would grant his daughter anything she wished.
“Honestly, I didn’t plan for things to turn out like this at first.”
“Yes, yes. I know. You were just going to admire him from a distance.”
Merilyn responded in a familiar tone as if she had heard this story before.
