The Emperor’s 99th Failed Confession
Thanks to being a debutante a year later than others, Marcella entered the Foundation Day party with great determination. On what should have been the best day of her life, she felt utterly shabby wearing shoes that seemed completely out of fashion. As she anticipated the worst debutante ball, Emperor Nell approached her.
“Marcella.”
She was so surprised that she choked even though she hadn’t eaten anything.
“Since I made a promise, I should keep it.”
Huh? Have we met before?
“Then how many times must I confess before you’ll accept it as sincere?”
At Nell’s question, Marcella pondered. Just how many times would she have to say it to end this ridiculous business?
“…100 times.”
“100 times?”
“Yes.”
Marcella thought he obviously wouldn’t be able to do it.
How could he do such a bothersome thing? You don’t even really like me.
Rather than waste time on such nonsense, it would be faster to look for another young lady.
“So you’ll stay by my side while receiving 100 confessions from me.”
Seeing Nell’s unwavering eyes, Marcella finally realized she had made some kind of mistake.
